Construction
Because a door is only as good as the craftsmanship and materials that go into it, it's important to note that nearly a century of door making and millwork knowledge goes into every door that we make. All of our doors feature true mortise-and-tenon construction, which provides strength and durability superior to dowels or bolts. We're one of the few door companies that still employs this superior, structurally stable technique. |

Wood Varieties
Great River Door Company prefers to use “softer” woods for our doors so that we can get the best effect from our sandcarving process. White pine, cedar, Douglas fir, redwood & cypress are our woods of choice. If you have a preference that is not listed, please write or call and we'll be glad to discuss the viability of that particular species of wood. |

Finishes
We offer our doors fully finished or, if you prefer, unfinished. If you choose to have us finish your door, we will discuss your particular circumstances with you and use a finish that will best enhance your sandcarved design, as well as provide the protection necessary for your particular situation. |
