Great River Door Company is a new company with some very old history—all the way back to 1915, as a matter of fact. Our more recent history began 10 years ago, when Kampmann Sash & Door (started in 1917) combined its efforts with SignCrafters (a wood sign manufacturer since 1987) to produce an innovative approach to custom door design . . . sandcarved doors. Since that time, with dozens of door/entry systems sold locally, Mark Erickson (owner of Kampmann‘s) and Brent Manley (original and 16-year owner of SignCrafters) formed Great River Door Company to make our sandcarved doors available to you, wherever you may be.
Craftsmanship
Old World craftsmanship goes into every door and entry system that we make. Whether in the construction of the door itself or in the design/sandcarving process, attention to detail is the hallmark of every door. We would love to tell you about every aspect of our design and construction process, but we think the photos in this website say more than we could in days of telling you about them. If you have any specific questions, we will be happy to answer them.
Building
Our doors are produced in the original buildings of Kampmann Sash & Door Co., which date back as far as 1917. With the hard-wood floors, machinery that dates back to the 1880s (mixed with modern equipment, as well) and an assortment of memorabilia from days gone by, it is an environment that you may have thought no longer existed. The photos shown here provide a glimpse of that environment. Our sales and design office, at a different location, is also reflective of the quality and attention to detail that we put into our doors.
